Just completed the 4 session Obedience Training with Dean and my Chihuahua mix rescue Foxxy and couldn't be happier with her progress. Foxxy was rescued off the streets and has been dealing with major reactive and trust issues of strangers since we adopted her 5 months ago. Dean helped me understand the roots of her behaviour and provided practical strategies for helping reduce her reactivity and become more comfortable around strangers with consistent, positive training methods based on redirecting her attention back to me and that was in addition to learning all the basic commands! The program was just as beneficial for me as it was for her and I am now feeling optimistic and better equipped for her continued progress.I really liked the fact that Dean came to our house, where Foxxy is most comfortable instead of having to go out somewhere. Dean is amazing at what he does. When I called him about our recent rescue, a 5 month old Great Dane with reactive issues , he was quick to respond and very willing to help us out. In the first session, Enzo was anxious to meet him, and by the last session Dean became someone Enzo trusted and was always happy to see him. Dean has been a blessing to my husband and me and our new puppy. We got a new puppy (Lily) to be friends with our 5 year old sedate poodle (Izzi). What a shock when we found out what a terror the puppy was and the jealousy of Izzi. Dean saved us from pulling our hair out. He immediately formed a positive relationship with our 3 month old mini poodle and our 5 year old. He taught my husband commands to use and he taught Lily and Izzi the commands. We recently completed our dog training sessions with Dean at Double D Dog Training, and we couldn't be happier with the results. Dean does an amazing job with the "train the trainer" model, and we feel very confident continuing everything we learned from him in order to set up our puppy, Tibbers, for maximum success.We immediately noticed the improvement in Tibbers after just a few sessions. She was much more responsive to our commands, and she was starting to learn how to behave in a variety of different situations. We especially loved the "going out in public" sessions! We were so lucky to have found Double D Dog Training for our mini cockapoo Tux. He just completed a week of “board and train” and we are amazed at how much he’s accomplished. I am an animal lover who takes in strays often and my most recent furbaby definitely need some help with commands. I was so excited when I found Double D Dog Training online but even more so when I first met Dean and realized that this man is just as much of an animal lover as we are. He actually cares about teaching both us and our animals how to be successful in training. My stray dog did not know any commands, and I’m not just saying that for the review, I mean seriously we couldn’t get him to sit. After just a few weeks of training with Dean he can now do a variety of commands very well and most importantly he does them regularly. We are so thankful for Dean and we are definitely gonna miss having him around, he became our dogs buddy but we are super thankful for the time and effort and genuine love he gave to our furbaby! 10/10 recommend!

I could not recommend Dean enough to anyone who needs help training their dog. Dean was prompt, helpful and brought a level of fun to all of our training sessions. Our dog loved the “treat man” and responded extremely well to Dean’s methodology. Dean is amazing!! I can't say enough good things about our experience and highly, highly recommend! We have two German Shepherd dogs - one 5 year old and one 5 months old and we were really struggling. After a series of 4 sessions with Dean, we are all a million times happier! It might seem like I'm exaggerating, but those 4 hours have been a difference of night and day. Not only did he teach us and the pups commands that are incredibly useful, he also helped us understand them better and told us about different toys and treats we could get to keep the dogs busy, which means less boredom, which means less getting into trouble. The cost was less WAY less than we had been quoted from other training programs, plus he came to us, which was super convenient for our family and helped us see how to practice these commands in our home environment and allowed all 5 of us to be involved, all learning the same commands, so we can all be consistent with the pups. I feel empowered and know that, with these tools, we and our dogs will have a very happy life together. Thank you Dean!!

We have seen night and day improvements with our 2 yo chihuahua mix. He is a little man with a big personality and Dean helped us better understand him and his needs to be able to continuously work with him. Found Dean online and i got a quick response for training. My now 10 week old pup has learned so much from Double D’s and i couldn’t think him enough for the guidance i got with my puppy! My family found Double D via google search. Our Morkie puppy needed some basic training and the fact that Dean travels to your residence was super convenient for our work schedules. We enrolled our pup, Charlie, into Double D's Basic Training 4-week course and we couldn't be happier with the results. With just one class every week for four weeks, Dean thought our pup how to sit, stay, wait, take it, leave it, look, touch, and even more; he completely transformed our high-energy girl into one that actually listens to us!! As Dean would say, it takes a lot of practice, so of course when we were not in class we would regularly practice with Charlie every day, 2-3 times a day, for 5 minutes each time. She's a pro. We enjoyed Dean's help so much that we even enrolled Charlie in the Advanced Training classes where we go out to public places and reiterate all the commands she learned in a "distracting environment"! SO glad I saw Dean’s Double D dog training on Next Door. In 4 sessions he helped train Tank, our 3 1/2 month old chocolate lab to handle some overly lively characteristics. He taught Tank (and us) some commands that are extremely helpful and I feel we’ve learned how to teach new commands confidently. I must say I'm very happy with the outcome of Molly's training. We just moved to Texas and the change didn't sit well with my dog, she started acting out and barking at people for no reason. I contacted Dean and we spoke about my concerns, after the first day of training I could see the results. The basic obedience program gave her the structure she was craving, now we both have the tools to help her adapt into her new environment ans it's working great! Besides her learning new commands, it streghten the bond between us and she is a happier dog. I will keep up with the training and all the great advice I received from Dean, I couldn't be happier!

Dean provided Advanced Obedience Training for our almost 2 year old golden retriever, Pooh Bear. Pooh Bear had a very solid foundation of basic skills (sit, stay, lay down, walking on a leash, etc), but we needed some help getting her socialized and working through recall with distractions.

I must say I'm very happy with the outcome of Molly's training. We just moved to Texas and the change didn't sit well with my dog, she started acting out and barking at people for no reason. I contacted Dean and we spoke about my concerns, after the first day of training I could see the results. The basic obedience program gave her the structure she was craving, now we both have the tools to help her adapt into her new environment ans it's working great! We checked out a couple of different training options when we adopted a 2-year-old adult dog, Buster. He’s a sweet dog, but he can be a handful on a leash. He’s protective of us and easily distracted by squirrels and cats on the sidewalk. (Runners and cyclists, too). We really liked that Dean was able to come to our home and focus just on us and our dog. He explained everything that we would be doing before we started the sessions, and he gave us loads of tips for reinforcing the desired behavior. We learned as much as, if not more, than the dog did, and we are grateful for Dean’s expertise.

What can I say, Dean was amazing! We adopted our Blue Heeler puppy, Charlotte and our son and daughter-in-law adopted her brother, Goose. We have an older Blue Heeler mix, Molly Mae, who is very well trained and we were concerned the babies would teach her bad habits! We were excited to have the opportunity to do an in-home dog training during the pandemic to stay safe. Dean was great with my fiancé, Adolph, myself, and my 8-year-old daughter, Ali, teaching all of us what we were doing right or wrong and how we could fix the behaviors we didn’t like. He was also very flexible to our schedules which really helped! Charlotte is now just as obedient as Molly Mae! It’s very important to practice everything he teaches you even after the training is done. But I promise it is worth the investment. Dean did an amazing job with Pretzel, a 3 month golden doodle and included our 3 year old grandson in the classes. This was much appreciated and was successful in building a relationship between the two. Dean made sure that not only my husband who did the first 3 of the 4 classes, but that I understood everything that was covered by providing a quick tutorial on everything that was covered in the classes. I would highly recommend Dean if you are looking for someone who is committed to not only working with the puppy/dog, but with everyone involved in the puppy/dogs daily live. Dean is a great dog trainer. He very quickly established a trusting relationship with our very jittery, probably abused rescue dog. Tricks and training techniques were taught to the dog and his very unqualified dog parents. Dean is also very personable, educated, punctual and generous. Brought multiple methods of training and provided extra practice ideas to help as Nugget progresses. Within just 4 sessions we saw so much improvement! I want to start off by saying that at first I was a little skeptical with the idea of a dog trainer but Dean was absolutely amazing when it came to helping my pup Milo get his confidence up and helped me communicate better with Milo. Dean was very nice, professional , eager and him and Milo were best buds by the last training class. Even two weeks later , Milo has not gotten off track with his training and I am so proud of him and thankful to Dean for all of the training and working with me. Dean and Double D Dog Training are far and away the best money you can possibly spend for not only your dog’s training needs, but your own needs as well. My wife and I felt extremely discouraged with how our dog was behaving (or not behaving as the case was), even after we had invested the time and energy into other training classes. We knew that we were part of the problem with not providing the consistent training and follow up needed. Having Dean instruct and guide us and show us just how invaluable consistency and follow through are with training was the greatest reward we could have gotten. If you have any hesitation about individualized training, you can bet that they will be gone after utilizing Dean and his program. Dean was great. we worked with him for four sessions and our puppy knows many commands. sit, stay, come, leave it, drop it. she walks on a leash beautifully. Dean helped us with house training also. I would recommend Dean to anyone wanting to work on your dogs behavior. Dean's program is easy to follow and implement. we will be doing the advanced program for sure. We had a rather large dog that was not getting the most basic command of "come". She is one of those dogs that are fearfully afraid of thunder, and brought that fear to vet visits. We are on 5 acres, and if she saw me with a leash, she was gone. My son could always eventually wrangle her, but it was an immense chore. The worst was when she slipped her collar at Herbst. It took three physician's assistants and myself to catch her (she took off to that vacant field across the street). That was the final straw. I somehow found Dean, who came twice a week, and oh-so-slowly, little by little, got her to his van, then got her to put a paw on the opening, then up in the van. I told him at the beginning he'll never do it. I was wrong. Now, when I grab the leash, she runs to the back of my SUV, and waits for me to open the hatch, and then jumps in. Amazing. Dean was patient, kind, and I felt he did the job he came to do in a timely and efficient manner. I cannot recommend him enough.

Some of the things he worked on with her were loose leash walking, clicker training when she was barking in the back yard and waiting at her food bowl. She is so much better behaved now after completing her Double D basic obedience training and I would highly recommend him to anyone in need of dog training!!

Dean came to our house to see how she behaves and what we were dealing with. In the four sessions we saw marked improvement and he gave us skills to turn a good dog into a great dog! For the last two years I have been taking our Aussie, named Stitches, to a local groomer, Pooches Day Spa, located at the end of Fair Oaks Parkway in Fair Oaks Ranch, TX. Initially Stitches was reluctant at being dropped off, but as time went by, Stitches attitude has gone from reticent to eager. Seven weeks ago I engaged Dean Duet who works at Pooches Day Spa and who also has a dog training business evenings and weekends, to come out to our house on Sundays and work with Stitches and I on obedience training.
What I have concluded participating in the training, is that Dean is the reason Stitches likes going to the groomers. Dogs have an innate sense for gauging the range of people’s emotions like anger, fear, sadness, love, kindness, empathy and warmth. Just like humans, dogs respond to the emotions that they sense in the humans they encounter. Stitches has responded in kind to the positive emotions radiated by Dean.
And just as kids learn that Dad’s mean fun and Mom’s mean business, Stitches has quickly learned to want to be cooperative in the training process. It is the empathy and warmth as much as it is the great treats that Dean uses as rewards in the training process that Stitches is responding to.
I can recommend Dean without reservation as a dog trainer!
